I started my adventure racing life back in 1997 by going to the Eco-Challenge Adventure Racing School in Southern California to learn what the sport is about. Since then I have completed almost 40 races from sprint to expedition length. Highlights include:
- Attempting but not finishing the 2002 Raid the North Extreme in Yukon, Canada. First leg of the race was a 156 mile canoe down the Yukon River that took 26 hours. Second leg was a 30 mile bushwack that took us 60 hours!!
- Taking 3rd place overall in the 2005 Appalachian Extreme in 76 hours. Had a close call with the grim reaper when we decided to continue paddling on a lake at 3AM while a then unknown Noreaster blew through.
- Doing the 1998 Beast of the East and taking almost 5 days to complete. It was my second race and also the longest I raced for.
- Taking 1st overall in the Male category for the 2007 Genesis Adventures race series.
- Doing a fair number of 1 and 2 day races in VA and WVA.
- Doing lots of sprint races.
