After a short 6 years in the Marine Corp Reserves and the proudly claiming the title of Platoon Ironman at Paris Island , SC (3 mile run, pull-ups, sit-ups) I was destined to be an adventure racer. While they did teach me a great deal about navigation in the Marines, I was always better at shooting stuff and carrying heavy things long distances.
So that is pretty much my role now on team NYARA. No shooting though…
I got into Adventure Racing with Ed "Pac-man" Harrington 5 or 6 years ago. The progression went something like this…Beginner Mountain Bike Races, Sport Mountain Bike Races, Hi-Tec Adventure Race, (this is where I got hooked), Genesis Adventure Races, Balance bar 24, a marathon, The Longest day and then Odyssey Mega-dose. I have been mixing it up the last couple years doing some short triathlons and a marathon or two. This year will be my first 70.3 triathlon (scheduled to do two of them), but I am most looking forward to 60 hours with my bestest buddies this summer Ed, Larry, and Jim of Team NYARA at the UntamedNE this June.
Some Race Highlights include, but are not limited to:
- 2002 Balance Bar 24 Hrs of NY - 5th Place All-Male
- 2004 Mega Dose-Finisher
- 2006 NYARA SHAG 24 Hr - First Place
- 2006 Genesis Adventure Series - Series Champions Male Division
- 2007 NYARA Longest Day - First Place All Male
- 2007 Genesis Adventure Series - Series Champions Male Division
Most popular AR question:
"What am I supposed to be looking for?"
(This question nearly edged out "How much farther until I turn?" and "How many more check points do we have?"
